Elevator compliance in Oklahoma City
Downtown Oklahoma City, Bricktown and Midtown hold the state’s office and hotel towers, including the 50-story Devon tower; the OU Health Sciences Center, Integris, Mercy and SSM Health campuses run the hospital elevators that Oklahoma inspects every year regardless of height; the state Capitol complex, the University of Oklahoma in Norman and Tinker Air Force Base round out a market with a lot of public-sector equipment and public-sector procurement rules.
State inspectors from the Department of Labor perform the inspections. The owner schedules, pays and posts the certificate, and answers for anything the report finds. A major repair or alteration takes the unit out of certification until ODOL re-inspects, which makes contractor scheduling and documentation part of compliance, not just maintenance.
